Hello, I'm Amy and welcome to The Drookit Feltmaker, home of handmade felt from farm to you!
I grew up on a sheep farm in Scotland and after living in London for several years, I returned to rural Perthshire where I have been making and producing felt since 2016.
Working hands-on with natural fibres is an enjoyable and organic process, as each pieces takes shape by compressing and agitating the fibres to create warm and lightweight wearables and cosy home furnishings.
The fibres that I use are from sheep born and raised in Scotland, with a few select fleeces coming from flocks in other parts of the UK. Each felted piece is unique, with a rustic charm and features the natural textures of the wool that are particular to each breed.
Whereas my felt is traditionally made using rolling and agitating techniques, I am creative with colour and use several dying methods to achieve a variety of results, including bath, dip and spash techniques that have been developed through practice and experimentation.
